The Hijab (Headscarf)

The hijab is like a diamond-stone
A girls best friend
She shines whenever it's worn
Words cannot describe, her beauty which is ***

Y’all might wonder who I am
I’ll tell ya, a proud Muslimah that's who I am
Covered up from head to toe
I go head to head with my foe
Blast him all around with the knowledge I know
You can’t be slow to catch onto my flow
Coz it’s the Messenger’s words that gimme my glow

My hijab is my shield
My knowledge is my sword
These two things to lose
I cannot afford

Free from the eyes that stray
Cover up is what I say
No need to worry coz I pray
Five times a day
Follow the Prophets way
If they got something to say
No doubt I’m out
Coz I’m better than what they portray

But hey

I'm not like what some claim
Not oppressed or depressed
You might judge me on how I look or dress
But I confess, I couldn’t care less

When you see me from the distance
You can spot the difference
Between the guided and misguided
When I walk past you, you know I'm your sista in Islam
So each time you see me,
Reach out and greet me,
If you’re a Muslim you can even meet me

I don't live my life thinking what people will say
Simply coz they aint the ones judging me on Judgment Day
I only live to obey Allah
I let people talk coz I know every soul will face death

And be questioned about everything done and mentioned
Better be prepared to do your best
Coz Judgment Day comes without rest

The ones with knowledge say I've been blessed
Coz they see the inside of my happiness
The ones who live their lives in fear say I got guts
But think bout it, burnin for fear is just nuts
I be modest and tell ‘em it’s only Allah I fear
For He is my Creator and to Him I belong
Never too young to depart
And from my hijab ill never apart

Every time things get hard I think of Paradise
It has more than what the mind can envision
A place like no other and has no equal
Just like this poem which sadly has no sequel.
