Angels in Babylon
« on: Saturday 19 June 2004, 23:55 »
Assalamualaykum wa rahmatu allah wabarakatuh

As I know the angels Harot and Marot were sent to Babel to teach the people about the characteristics of prophethood to enable them to recognize prophets because God will send prophets to them. And that They never committed any sin, because angels never commit sins. Can anyone support this with some text for early scholars. Also, when were these angels sent??

Some people are arguing and asking about it

Barakallah bikom

Prophet Sulaymaan never practised sorcery. There were books which he confiscated from some evil people and he buried them. When the number of the sorcerers who were tutored by the demons increased during the era of our master sulaymaan, and they claimed to be prophets, God sent 2 of His honorable angels, Haroot & Maroot to teach people about sorcery & magic in order to differentiate between them and miracle performing.

Haroot & Maroot taught sorcery to warn people about it, not to encourage them to do it. It was as if they said <<do not do this>> or <<do not blaspheme>> meaning << do not learn sorcery thinking that it is lawful, and thus commit blasphemy>>

Furthermore, whenever Haroot & Maroot taught somebody sorcery, they advised him that they were sent as a test & affliction to people.

God, in the Holy Qur'aan, made it clear that the most that the 2 Angels taught was how to separate between a man & his wife & that harm doesn't occur unless God Willed. Since Allaah creates benefit & harm & He ascertained that learning sorcery & practising it will be harmful to those who do & it will have an evil outcome on them.

Also Surat at-Tahrim, Ayah 6 means: [They do not disobey Allah in what He orders them (to do), and they do exactly what they were ordered.]
