I'm just going to add my 2cents.  It can be used as sister Bash used it to give the same meaning that she wanted.

Take a look at #4:  http://www.m-w.com/dictionary/wind

It says:  "4 : gas generated in the stomach or the intestines <pass wind>"

Therefore, "passed wind" can be used instead of saying "passed gaz".

I remember hearing a story about a saint,,, a waliyy of Allâh.  I dont remember all the details so maybe someone can add them in inshâ'a-llâh

A woman entered a mans shop and was looking around. This woman let out wind and was extremely embarassed, but the man pretended he had not heard. When she asked him the prices of some of the items he was selling he would ask her to repeat, so that she felt he had maybe not heard her pass wind.

This man did this (asking people to repeat for him their words) until this woman died, so that she would not feel embarassed or humiliated.

Notice he did not lie at any stage

Excellent example of how one should care for the feelings of others. The simplest thing we say can hurt another so deeply, whilst it takes only a second for such a slip of the tongue.

Many people make jokes with others yet fail to see the consequences of such jokes

God make us better in character
i know what you mean , people say things without thinking about the result
