help and guidance sought for istikhara
« on: Wednesday 13 January 2010, 08:57 »
:salam1 i have an acute problem that has arisen on the practice of istikhara...without going into too many details, i was specifically asked to go for istikhara, which when i did, i had a dream! now my problems are just two in number:
1) i need somebody to interpret my dream (which seems pretty positive to me) but i have nobody at my end to do it! how should i resolve this issue!? should i accept the positivity of the dream as a sign to commit to wtever i wanted to, and accept it as Allah's guidance or should i seek some interpretation?
2) how can i satisfy people (those who asked me to go for istikhara) that i was unbiased when i begged for Allah's guidance, that it was not my wishful thinking that made me dream such?
please help me, im stuck in a quagmire right now...dont know wt to do!!

Bro, Istikhara is done to seek ALLAH's permission no matter what you want to do, Istikhara is done for marriage, engagement, even for doing something that has to deal with your everyday life like for choosing certain college, moving of your home or buying a new one.
I will send you the the recitation for Istikhara and the way to do it.

Interpreting the dreams: OK, first of all let me tell you that according to Allama Ibn-e-Sirin's book the dream that you see close to the day is called a dream, in the night whatever you see maybe a fantasy or your illusions  regarding your day to day life. Ibn-e- Sirin's book of dreams is available in English, I think you better get it cause a lot of people will only confuse you.

Please let me know how can I help you further. Thanks

Assalam aleykoum sister and brother,

There is something I do not understand, there is a way to ask Allah SWT or to tell him something ?

We can ask him every day, no time or place or a way to ask him.

I do not understand SALAT ISTIHARA ? its like there is only one way to ask Allah SWT.

Surah 2

186. When My servants ask thee concerning Me, I am indeed close (to them): I listen to the prayer of every suppliant when he calleth on Me: Let them also, with a will, Listen to My call, and believe in Me: That they may walk in the right way.

Assalam aleykoum.

Prayer Istikhara is the way that you are most willing to ask for the permission weather soon or late from ALLAH. Best option is to get closer to ALLAH and then ask him the best time to get closer to ALLAH is prayer Tahajud. at the quarter of night, At this time few close one of ALLAH is directly talking to Him. try this one ,May be yo will feel  more comfortable.

If you do not understand the Istikharah that is no reason for you or others to pass judgment on the people who are using it.
Each one of us will follow what they believe in. For some of you who do not want to believe Allah may not facilitate and help by the rank of  Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him, (the best of Allah's creation) that is your choice and the we have the right to chose too.

We tolerate what you believe in... and we understand what we believe in too.

Regards

I didn't intend to be offensive or disrespectful towards what others believe in, and I apologize if it came across this way. What I meant to say was that the idea of Istikhara is being misused by a faction among us, and while tthey -intentionally or unintentionally - do it, they are unaware of the pain that they cause other people, especially when their victims (using 'victims' for the lack of a better word) come to know about their hypocrisy!
Though, this comment is quite late in coming, and things have definitely moved on from when I wrote the previous comment.
I apologize again for my indiscretion.

Regards.

Dear Sister

 :salam1

No apology needed. You have explained your reasons for saying what you did. My reply was about the honest people who do not hide behind the Istikharah.

I do not know how it came about that you were hurt by people claiming they did it and therefore .....

Dear Sister;

I hope you still put your trust in Allah, and what he kept away from you might have been for your best interest. I believe he did save me many times from taking a wrong decision, some by making the istikharah and others by just making a since supplication.

I am glade that you took the time to respond to my post, and I hope you will still bring us more of your ideas and inputs.

Those Muslims hurt Islam by using it to fulfill their own agendas. They are not following the Islam as it was related to us by our Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him. It is not Islam they are reflecting, and they need to go back to the basic knowledge of Islam and not lie.

Thank you sister

Allah know best. :embrace

Dear sister. we cannot change people or their intention. All we need is the open eye by which i can see what people are doing and why they are coming to us. simply all you need is to do Trust ALLAH and do things with good intention. ?May ALLAH help us all and save us from hypocrist people.
