new and confused
« on: Sunday 27 July 2008, 16:13 »
I am very new to this.  I have been studying the Quran, and even getting books to help.

I do have some questions and hope you can help.

For one am I correct in reading that some people can reject G_D and then when their ears and eyes are sealed they will never learn faith.

I have tried a lot of religions and bibles searching for truth and I hope this has not happened to me.

Secondly, I noticed the references to the Torah and Gospels in the Quran.

Is the Torah part of Islamic fait too?

Is there another book for gospels?

Is the Torah like old testament and Quran new?

I know these questions probably sound foolish, but I want to learn.  I find the Quran very inspirational more so than other writings I have read.

I would appreciate your help

Thanks
Dan

hi there, I hope can help you with this, as I studiying Islam longer than you are (perhaps).

first, I don't understand with you saying some people reject G_D. I assume you are refering to tafseer of Al-baqarah(2) : 6-7 with this translation:

"6. Indeed, those who disbelieve - it is all the same for them whether you warn them or do not warn them - they will not believe.

7. Allah has set a seal upon their hearts and upon their hearing, and over their vision is a veil. And for them is a great punishment."

This is about 4Wl that is accepting everyone du'a, including one ask to reject faith. So be careful with your wish, as 4Wl always fulfill it. Hope you're not one of them. Amen.

It is one of fundamental faith in Islam to believe that 4Wl gives torah, zabur, gospel and Quran for human. But that doesn't mean we have to follow other than Quran. As our prophet Muhammad saw was unhappy when Umar bin Khattab bring one part of Torah. It said that if Moses still alive, he will be following Muhammad saw and throw away what was written in Torah.

Those book is the one that we must believe as a consecuences of our faith in Islam. beside, 4Wl gives mushaf2 to His prophets.

Quran and Hadeeth that Muhammad saw brought erases all of previous mushaf and 4Wl laws to the predecessor. We only need to follow laws that Quran and hadeeth stated.

Hope that can help.

4Wl is an imitation of the word Allah swt in Arabic form. I'm trying to differentiate the word from other religion god. In my country, christian use the word Allah too.

So, how's the new book? Hope you get enlightened

Hey thanks for help.

The book is great I originally got it from library so I cannot keep it.  I have enjoyed it so much that I bought my own.  It should arrive in a couple of weeks.

I have also checked out a book called “The Muslim Primer”.  I am usually a slow reader and half of times never finish the book, but this one I read and took notes on.

I even finished it in one week.

The whole Islam religion seems to be inspiring me greatly.  I have even started to address some of my bad habits that I have always really knew were wrong just did not want to change.

I am still totally lost at trying to learn, but I feel driven to learn it.

Now my biggest threat is my peers.  No Islamic out here, and they all see my newfound study to be a threat.

Thus, I am constantly under fire.  I guess this is very small lesson in suffering for the truth

Hope to hear from you again

That's great. I can only take hat on you for keep going despite of the threat. Perhaps you should visit regularly your nearest local Islamic center or Moslem community that can support and help you. I'll be very happy to help you if I can. Hope the best shall pour on you.

I'm pretty new to the Koran. And have studies other religeons like satanism(very evil),Buddahism(no true light,or proof) an read up on other misc.forms of the so called"light". I have read and studied the Koran and found it quite confusing.Mabey you can help. I'm not against anyone who has their own form of belief or God,just trying to better understand the reality of a TRUE prophet or God concept. There has never been really solid confirmation in the other religeons. i have looked and was wondering as i would ask about ANY religeon what makes Islam better than all the others.? thanks for everything...ummm blessings..i think?
