Guys & Gals,

I'm nitpicking a little bit ... USA & UK are not, I repeat, are not Islamic state.

My pick for best Islamic state, .... varies, could be Malaysia (hey, its my country anyway! ), Indonesia, Brunei, Morocco, Egypt, Jordan ... perhaps Iran too. UAE rocks too!

For best Islamic places, would be Makkah Al-Mukarramah & Madinah Al-Munawwarah.

Nothing could top those two, apart from perhaps a visit to Mesjidil Al-Aqsa in Baitul Muqaddis (unfortunately, that is out of question).

I am always in love with Turkey, a very vibrant and magnanimous history and great people, may Kamal Attaturk rot in hell forever who changed the script from Arabic to Latin, they have tons and tons of written material on Islam, Crusades and every aspect of Islamic struggle relating to Byzantine Empire.
 
Now that most valuable and precious stuff is just sitting there waiting to be explored - I wish I could go and pray in Blue Mosque, such a wonderful place.

Malaysia ?Islamic state? there are no Islamic states,all states are ruled by jack asses or criminals.Any state thas has a muslim living in it is a (potential)Islamic state, So I reiterate my choice of the USA as the greatest Islamic State.

Curioustraveller, technically you are right and you think just like me. There is not a single Islamic state that can really really be called an Islamic State. Every Islamic or should I say predominantly Moslem state is either running on western-type democracy or is overwhelmingly being governed on colonial laws with not even a pinch of Islam. For instance where I am from (Pakistan) a Fatwa issued by an authorised Jurist or authentic faqih is "NOT ENTERTAINED IN THE CIVIL COUTS".

Excuse my ignorance but where are KSA and UAE?

I do not recognize these as countries I know.

I would love to visit any of these places, but what exactly makes it an Islamic state?

Is it the fact that government is ran by Islamic leader, or must it be where Islam is forced on everyone?

I find this to be a very common misunderstanding in a large part of USA however, most people are afraid to ask.


Hope I do not offend anyone.
Just wanting to learn truth.

KSA is the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
UAE is the United Arab Emirates

 --- if you look at a world map you should find them.  if you can kinda look right from the USA and go past Africa and just to the right of that (opposite Egypt and Sudan - but before you get to India) is KSA and UAE the area is often referred to as the Middle East as well.
